Chicago rapper Serengeti (David Cohn) is something of a city spokesman, taking on different personalities and dropping hometown references. Cohn’s deliberate delivery matches well with C.A.R.’s bass-heavy, off-kilter (possibly off-time) beats. There are jokes, there is wordplay (“Forget the cable man / Because nice knows how to spice”), there is a general sense of aggression masked by vocal apathy, and there is an eerie sense Cohn might be the missing member of Das Racist. “Greyhound,” “Nice” and “Peekaboo” are all fun but Cohn isn’t prodigious enough to make C.A.R. count.
