It’s been two years since Sidewalks was released, and in that time the Brooklyn indie-pop duo of Matt Johnson and Kim Schifno has grown grander musically…without evolving lyrically. Throughout Lightning (aptly titled for its length), the listener is continually disappointed by sonically pleasing tracks with intricate piano/synth melodies and a driving tempo (“Not That Bad,” “Overexposed”) with unbelievably lackluster lyrics (“Tonight”). The upside? There will be stellar remixes of these infectiously cute songs within the week.
