Inu

Inu is a new project featuring San Francisco-based producer Count (Radiohead, DJ Shadow, New Order, Halou), cellist Zoe Keating (Rasputina, Imogen Heap, Dresden Dolls) and guitarist Tim Hingston (Nyles Lannon), and Not for Anyone is the band’s debut full-length. Inu’s sound is somewhat reminiscent of ‘90s alternative rock, mixing the use of guitar, bass and percussion with the addition of modern electronic elements and the cello. If you’re into more experimental or atmospheric type music and can handle an album full of dream-like vocals and drawn out instrumental bits then you’ll love Not for Anyone. If that’s not really your thing, two or three songs will probably be enough to get your fill. The album definitely has its highlights, especially on the electro-pop songs “Stephen Colbert” and “The Bailing,” and overall is quite beautiful, full of hopeful, thought-provoking lyrics and soothing tracks. But like the title suggests, this album may not be for just anyone.
