Daisy - DGC

The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me had Brand New turn away from the Dashboard Confessional touring fodder of Deja Entendu and Your Favorite Weapon. So Daisy sits between the two schools and is largely successful. “You Stole” toys between painful distortion and simple, devastating melody, painful guitar riffs fight each other, it’s anger with class. There’s the odd blip; “At the Bottom” and “Sink” lie too comfortably in the Brand New format, the lyrics are so-so and the chorus is painful stadium homage. Save the discrepancies, the rest pushes the band to territories only accessible from building on their collective abilities. In all, Daisy demonstrates that Brand New can remain forever sincere and massively intriguing composers.
