Q&A: Cut/Copy Talks Pacific Festival: OC and Summer Style

One of FILTER's most anticipated summer festivals, Pacific Festival: OC, has just announced KCRW Music Director and Morning Becomes Eclectic, Jason Bentley, will be added to their already impressive line up which includes the likes of Snoop Dogg, Ghostland Observatory, Calvin Harris, festival founder, Steve Aoki and many more.

The festival is growing nigh and we here at FILTER had the chance to chat with several of the acts performing at this year's event.  To kick things off, Mitchell Scott from Cut/Copy will be giving us a bit of insight to the band's upcoming plans as well as a note on some summer stylings.

Summer music festival season- it's a beautiful thing. What are you currently up to as far as touring, recording, projects and good ol’ living this summer?

Mitchell Scott: We're touring like crazy at the moment, and will be doing so pretty much all year - right now we're in Buenos Aires, making our way through Central and South America!  (Check out pictures from Cut/Copy's South American tour here)

Tell us about one of your most memorable music festival experiences. Who was playing? Who/What were you holding? Where was it? Details please.
Favourite festival experience was at Splendour in the Grass in Australia.  Franz Ferdinand were playing right at the point they had released their first album and were blowing up.  When they played Take Me Out I was standing side of stage on a set of bleachers which were full of people from other bands trying to watch the show.  The crowd went absolutely wild, I've never seen or heard a response like it.  The stage started shaking and the whole side of stage had to be evacuated for fear of it collapsing - fucking amazing!

Tell us who you are most excited to be playing alongside/to see at this year’s Pacific Festival festival?
There's a bunch of cool stuff I'm psyched to see - Toro Y Moi, !!!, Classixx, Fred Falke, Justin Miller and a bunch more

Summer style – there’s lots of it in Southern California. What are some the styles you enjoy? Any essentials that we should consider?

Summer style for me is something worn out of necessity.  I'd rather be covered up, but when its really hot, you have to shed some layers.   When I go to the beach people get scared, thinking I'm a ghost because I'm quite pale.  I didn't own a pair of shorts for many years - then I cut the legs off a pair of jeans that had torn at the knees and bingo! summer style
