OBSESSIVE COMPULSIONS: FILTER’s Weekly Picks Featuring Neutral Milk Hotel, Willie Nelson + More

FILTER likes music. There's no hiding it. We also like our own opinions a whole bunch, so once a week we give the masses a fleeting glimpse into our selective stereos and Internet browsers to let them see firsthand what fuels our endless devotion. We like to think of it as community service. We're selfless like that. So without further ado, here are the official, inarguable, objectively good FILTER Weekly Picks—providing everything from new LPs you should be spinning to the latest good-fer-you videos. Yeah, we're good at what we do:

Neutral Milk Hotel

Why: It seems like 2013 has been the year of killer reunions and musical dreams being fulfilled. I am SO glad that Jeff Mangum and co are now part of the dreamy haze that is 2013. Hopefully they'll extend the tour dates to LA! -- Bailey Pennick

Kim Gordon. And this article.

Why: Because not only is she the coolest woman ever, has a rap playlist to cope with trauma and looks amazing - but extra points for being vulnerable and human and classy and someone to look up to in so many ways. Enjoy your young suitors, Kim - and then some! -- Monique Gilbert

The Veils - "Out From The Valley" (Live From Abbey Road)

Why: I rarely like live videos, but this is a rare exception. It's an amazing progression that previews an amazing new album. --Angelica Corona

Willie Nelson

Why: Willie turns 80 tomorrow. Celebrate with this epic playlist. Simply put: he's the greatest. -- Wes Martin

Lyft - a community based, ride share program

Why: Don't have a car in the LA, SF, Seattle (and expanding) area? Download the Lyft app and get a ride from someone in your area, for way cheaper than a taxi, etc. Make a new friend, build your community. Pretty rad concept! --Evan Pierri

FILTER US Recordings graduates Shovels & Rope: Birmingham -- Alan Sartirana

"Fuzz's Fourth Dream" by FUZZ

Why: The fuzziest thing you'll hear today.—Breanna Murphy
