OBSESSIVE COMPULSIONS: FILTER’s Weekly Picks Featuring Big Day Out, “Top Gear” + More
By Staff on February 4, 2013
FILTER likes music. There's no hiding it. We also like our own opinions a whole bunch, so once a week we give the masses a fleeting glimpse into our selective stereos and Internet browsers to let them see firsthand what fuels our endless devotion. We like to think of it as community service. We're selfless like that. So without further ado, here are the official, inarguable, objectively good FILTER Weekly Picks—providing everything from new LPs you should be spinning to the latest good-fer-you videos. Yeah, we're good at what we do:
Top Gear - Season 19
Why: You don't even need to care about cars to love this show. One of the best around. Season 19 premieres tonight on BBC America. -- Wes Martin
Fall Out Boy -- "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark"
Why: Fall Out Boy is back. They'll never be the same band they were 10 years ago BUT they're back and 2013 will hopefully see them playing TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE live and that's all that matters... -- Evan Pierri

Beyonce's Super Bowl Show via Buzzfeed
Why: I think I'm going to have to say that I'm obsessed with Buzzfeed's breakdown!! I know that's lame. I watched the performance - but I think everyone was so excited I missed these amazing details! -- Monique Gilbert

OFF! - live at Big Day Out Australia
Why: One of the best live sets I've seen in a long ass time. Keith Morris loves to talk shit but puts on a good show and Dimitri Coats, Steve McDonald, Mario Rubalcaba kick some serious ass too and got the Aussie kids in Melbourne into some punk rock amongst the indie-rock party. --Alan Sartirana
The Adventures Of Pete and Pete's Funny Or Die video
Why: Beyond seeing all of your favorite Nickelodeon characters old (which makes you think about your own life just a little bit too much), this video is actually really funny! -- Bailey Pennick
Ásgeir Trausti -- "Dýrð í dauðaþögn"
Why: Because music from Iceland never stops impressing me and this song felt just right to kick off my week. -- Mike Bell
