OBSESSIVE COMPULSIONS: FILTER’s Weekly Picks

FILTER likes music. There's no hiding it. We also like our own opinions a whole bunch, so once a week we give the masses a fleeting glimpse into our selective stereos and Internet browsers to let them see firsthand what fuels our endless devotion. We like to think of it as community service. We're selfless like that. So without further ado, here are the official, inarguable, objectively good FILTER Weekly Picks—providing everything from new LPs you should be spinning to the latest good-fer-you videos. Yeah, we're good at what we do:

Dum Dum Girls - End of Daze EP
Why: They had one of the best albums of last year, and they just keep improving. New hair color, less black, same awesome tunes. -Wes Martin

The Ostrich Pillow
Why: Because you should never be ashamed of a power nap, no matter how ridiculous it makes you look. -Sarah Chavey

Toomy Disco - "The Wait"
Why: Just discovered this Argentinean disco producer Toomy Disco. I heard this track on a mixtape the other day, and I've been hooked on it since. -Jose Vargas

Fidlar: "Oh"
Why: They were a blast to watch at the Burton "13" premiere last Saturday. -Angelica Corona

Homeland
Why: Not only is it President Obama's favorite show, the Showtime hit just took home the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series along with acting nods for its fantastic leading lady and gentleman, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis respectively. Basically, if you're not watching, the terrorists have won. Season 2 premieres this Sunday at 10 p.m. -Samantha Barnes

Pig Rescues Baby Goat
Why: I mean...There goes bacon wrapped dates from my life. This is so stinking cute, and I can't quit watching. Pigs are legal as pets in Chicago. I might have to get one. -Monique Gilbert

Unified Field Collective
Why: I got my copy in the mail this week. Not only does it come with an unreleased demo by Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold, proceeds benefit 826 National. -Gianna Hughes

My Doc Martens 1460s

Why: When I traveled to Iceland back in April, and I knew I'd be trekking the wild terrain of volcanoes, snagging a new pair of Docs was a must. Comfy (Airwair!), rugged and thoroughly kick-ass, I've since tromped through the milder, but-in-dire-need-of-good-soles fests of FYF and Outside Lands with my trusty Docs leading the way. Music festivals and international adventures have a new must-have companion. -Breanna Murphy
