OBSESSIVE COMPULSIONS: FILTER’s Weekly Picks

FILTER likes music. There's no hiding it. We also like our own opinions a whole bunch, so once a week we give the masses a fleeting glimpse into our selective stereos and Internet browsers to let them see firsthand what fuels our endless devotion. We like to think of it as community service. We're selfless like that. So without further ado, here are the official, inarguable, objectively good FILTER Weekly Picks—providing everything from new LPs you should be spinning to the latest good-fer-you videos. Yeah, we're good at what we do:

College & Electric Youth - “A Real Hero” (Drive Original Soundtrack)
WHY: It’s amazing what a good soundtrack can do. -Samantha Feld Samuelson

Solomun - Kackvogel By Jakob Grunety
WHY: This is the happiest five minutes I’ve seen in a while. A great song and an even better video. -Sarah Chavey

2:54 - "You're Early"
WHY: Anyone that names their band after a part in a Melvins song is all right in my book. Plus it's two girls and they sound like Curve. Pretty awesome right? -Alan Sartirana

Le Labo
WHY: I love their packaging. I love their stores. I love their product. Every time I wear Santal 33, people stop to ask me what I'm wearing. Not kidding. Every time. I may have just jinxed myself. -Monique Gilbert

Latvia
WHY: Positivus Festival is happening there this weekend, and FILTER is offering a chance to win a trip to Latvia. Cool, huh? -Mike Bell

RIPNDIPCLOTHING.com
WHY: It's one of the newer skate/street wear brands that is putting out quality products, they have a different vibe than the other street wear brands, not as "elitist" and more of a fun, down for everyone type of vibe. -Daniel Wheatley

The Antlers - "Crest"
WHY: Because ever since Hospice, I've been a sucker for anything related to Peter Silberman, his vocals are ridiculously good. I'm loving the darker, haunting sound and the addition of horns to the new album. -Angelica Corona

Beasts Of The Southern Wild
WHY:
Best movie of the year. Best two performances by leads of the year. This little girl is special. So is the movie. Go see it. -Pat McGuire

Pacific Standard Time by Poolside (DAY & NIGHT)
WHY: I won't even be so redundant as to suggest how good this album sounds laying by a pool in 110 degree heat. -Breanna Murphy

Drug Church - Self Titled EP
WHY: Good friends putting out really good music. You like push pits? You like 90’s riffs? Check it! -Tim Dove
