Congratulations to First Aid Kit winning the Nordic Music Prize for their album The Lion's Roar! The Swedish group stood out against 11 other nominees (Susanne Sundfør, Pää kii, Ásgeir Trausti, Choir of Young Believers, and Lindstrøm, just to name a few) and is the third recipient of the award!
The decision for the group's victory was done by a set of jurors, which consisted of record label representatives (Domino, Rough Trade, Columbia, DFA), and journalists from Sweden and UK's The Guardian. Many of them agreed The Lion's Roar held exquisite songwriting, timeless melodies, and heartbreakingly beautiful harmonies, thus being well deserving of the award.
The Nordic Music Prize is an annual award that began to be awarded three years ago for the Best Nordic Album of the Year. Past winners include Jónsi for his solo debut GO, and Sweden's Goran Kajfes for his album X/Y.
