LOOK: Mount Eerie To Release Two LPs in 2012, Tour Europe, Conquer World With Sound

Big year for Phil Elverum. The man and mind behind the now-defunct Microphones and still-prolific Mount Eerie had taken an uncharacteristic lapse in proper full-lengths since his last effort, 2009's Wind's Poem, but he'll be more than making up for the absence in 2012.

Elverum filled the three-year void with a compilation (Song Islands Vol. 2), a tour CDR (White Stag) and an EP for Southern (Black Wooden)—we said he was prolific—but Clear Moon will be the official follow-up, if one may use that term with Elverum's catalog, to the black metal–inspired Wind's Poem. And, in proper form, Clear Moon is expected to have a companion album, Ocean's Roar, to accompany it later this year. Both albums are the first to be recorded in the musician's new studio, a desanctified church called the Unknown, in Elverum's home of Anacortes, Washington.

At the beginning of February, Elverum contributed to his old Microphones label's Dub Narcotic series with a 7" called "Distorted Cymbals," which is a highly recommended purchase you can make over at K Records. Clear Moon will be released via Elverum's own label, P.W. Elverum & Sun, in May, with Ocean's Roar to follow later in 2012.
