LOOK: Los Angeles Art Show—Modern & Contemporary + Historic & Traditional

The LA Art Show: Modern & Contemporary & the Los Angeles Fine Art Show: Historic & Traditional, attracted record numbers of collectors and art enthusiasts for the Opening Night Premiere Party last week, benefitting the Art of Elysium and J. Paul Getty Museum’s Department of Education.  More than 5, 500 attendees, visitors admired more than 200, 000 square feet of paintings, sculptures, installations from 120 galleries. Estimates indicated that more than $1.5 million worth of artwork sold - amazing news for Art of Elysium and J. Paul Getty Museum’s Department of Education!

A major highlight of the Opening event was Mark Mothersbaugh's (of Devo) Symmetry exhibit. The selection of Mothersbaugh's limited edition prints from his Beautiful Mutants series were produced over a twelve-year period and are selected from Mothersbaugh's personal favorites of more than 3000 different tests. View the Beautiful Mutants series of photos below in our photo gallery. The prose found in this exhibit portrays an incredible and insightful perspective on a study of humans via symmetry, most particularly found in photos both "recent and vintage." Materials used in these pieces, archival inks and paper, not only maintain the artworks' integrity but also allow for an altered experience. Needless to say, Mark Mothersbaugh definitely elevated the experience at this year's LA Art Show, Modern & Contemporary & the Los Angeles Fine Art Show.
