Lissie Tour Blog: Performing For David Lynch

Rock Island Illinois is the home of Elisabeth Maurus, better known by her stage name, Lissie. The woman creates folk/indie rock that sticks to your eardrums like raisins in peanut butter. Lissie is currently on tour and she has been nice enough to contribute a tour blog to FILTER!

In blog #1, Lissie talks about performing in front of David Lynch and Katy Perry, playing on a radio station, drinking tequila and playing in the Midwest.

Head here to get to know Lissie's music a bit better!

Hello. So far the tour has been great!  We kicked it off in LA at the Henry Fonda Music Box on Saturday Jan. 15th.  It was fun and moving and everything I'd hoped. Over 1,000 people there!! Lots of friends I hadn't seen in a while and new fans. Very cool!  Even Katy Perry and David Lynch were there and it was surreal to meet them, that they're fans of mine!!  George Stanford and The Pierces supported the show and were both exceptional! Great night of music!  The weather was around 80 degrees that day too, which was extra nice so I took my dog to the dog park, had some jeans hemmed and drove around LA with my windows down listening to Prairie Home Companion! I had some tasty chicken shawarma for dinner and a nip of Metl brand tequila (handcrafted by a friend of a friend, mucho authentic) and the rest of the evening flowed nicely!

Sunday was my day! :)  Early Monday we flew to Denver where we visited KBCO radio and put on a kick ass show (if I do say so myself!) at the Bluebird Theatre.  I did a few years at Colorado State so I got to see some familiar faces as well!  Then, I had drinks with some of the crowd afterward at a Mexican food spot/bar across the street from the theatre.  It was nice to meet some new friends and have a few shots of tequila with them. The talented Dylan LeBlanc is back on the road with us, which is awesome!

By now, all the tequila talk probably makes me sound pretty wild, ha! When in reality, I generally don't speak after gigs and have to sleep with a humidifier and air purifier, Neti pot twice a day, and I didn't speak today except when I had phone interviews. So there's some serious discipline in maintaining my voice.  Diet, exercise, sleep and usage all have to balance out which can be tough!

But ANYWAYS...I write this we're driving to Davenport, Iowa for a gig. I grew up across the Mississippi river from there in Rock Island, Illinois, so I'll get to see family and my super old, dear friends. Yay! It's been a really long drive but we watched the Grateful Dead movie which is inspiring and fantastic. My dog is along for these first three shows as well so we've been cuddling and napping. It's like 10 degrees outside and snowing! Oh and we stopped at the Omaha Whole Foods for dinner. Thank goodness for the grocer that keeps the boys and I healthy on the road!

I'm sure I could tell you more interesting things but I'm just getting into the groove of this...This week we hit Minneapolis, Chicago, and Toronto. And then many more cities after that. Take care and talk soon!

Peace - Lissie
