Josh Ritter Interviews Scott Hutchison Who Interviews Josh Ritter (FILTER Exclusive)

Singer/songwriter Josh Ritter has just recently released his new EP, To The Yet Unknowing World, February 15th and is now out on the road supporting that release alongside Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit.

Before the two acts dominate The Music Box in Hollywood on Saturday, February 26th, FILTER wanted to do an interview with Ritter and Hutchison but thought it might be more fun to let them interview each other. Read the outcome of these exchanges below.

If you are in the Los Angeles area, make sure you get tickets to see Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band with Scott Hutchison at The Music Box on February 26th presented by Goldenvoice, FILTER and 88.5FM KCSN.

You can also catch the act on the tail end of their tour. See those dates below.

Scott to Josh
What was your favourite TV show as a child? Why?
Hands down, “Magnum, P.I.”  It taught me the everyday utility of helicopters, Ferrari’s and flashbacks, and the importance of always staying one step ahead of Doberman pincers.

If Neil Young made you dinner and it sucked (we are talking inedible muck here), would you let him know or just force it down to keep him sweet?
I have a feeling that in his career Neil has gotten enough about bad reviews that he’d be able to live with a few of mine concerning his succotash.  I would just let him have it.

You are looking for a new stylist, and the only two applicants are Tyra Banks and Steven Hawkins. Who do you employ and why?
Stephen Hawkins!  Anyone that can comprehend the existence of the Grand Unified Theory will have something interesting to offer regarding what shirt to wear on stage.

What is your favourite condiment?
Pickled, crushed Italian peppers.  I enjoy the pain, and enjoy sharing it with others.

Josh to Scott:

What non-musical historical figures would make up your dream band?
I'd have Jack The Ripper on bass, The Boston Strangler on lead guitar, Charles Manson on drums and Kid Rock on vocals.

What is your favorite soup flavor?
A great big bowl of Vietnamese Pho always clears the head. I like to sweat at dinner.

If you took the high road and I took the low road, who would get to Scotland before whom?
I've always thought the low road would be quicker. No hills to walk up - I think you'd have the edge on me there. However, I have buddies in the north of England that I could call upon to hinder your progress with detours and distractions.

What is your favorite vegetable? Explain.
Definitely the onion. Its not fancy, doesn't like to shout or boast. No, the humble onion is quite comfortable being the foundation to so many tasty dishes - an unsung hero.
