First Impressions: Hot Chip - One Life Stand

First Impressions:

- It takes a few tracks to really get the vibe of Hot Chip’s fourth album, One Life Stand, but the songs hold strong and gain appreciation with every listen.

- “I Feel Better” features beats that range from club to concert hall, all the while showcasing the almost eerie and powerful vocals provided by Al Doyle, Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard.

- Although One Life Stand lacks a bit of uniformity, each track is something new and different, and it works. From “Hand Me Down Your Love” to “We Have Love,” the band explores the entire electro/pop/dance spectrum.

Predictions:

One Life Stand is bound to be Hot Chip’s most popular album to date. The band takes British electropop beyond what’s come to be expected and you will soon find yourself reminiscing about those hazy times spent abroad in European dance clubs—or maybe that’s just me?
