First Impressions:

-Believe it or not, it's been 10 years since Damon Gough, better known as Badly Drawn Boy, released his Mercury Award-winning first album, The Hour of Bewilderbeast. On October 12 (in the U.S.), he’s back with his first LP on his new label, The End Records. This is Badly Drawn Boy's second release in a little more than a year

-The album starts with “In Safe Hands,” which opens with a slow acoustic guitar, a soothing melody but with a melancholy vocal sound. The lyrics seem to be about a relationship ending with the narrator clearly upset about this not being his choice.

-“The Order of Things” is a bit different than it’s predecessor. Though still maintaining a soft sound, the tune has a cool cyclical melody, sounding similar to “Once Around The Block.”

-“I Saw You Walk Away” is as up-tempo as Badly Drawn Boy gets. It has a Smiths-type vibe to it, but not nearly as gloomy. The music is very bright and the overall sound is a cool change of pace.

Key Tracks:

“Too Many Miracles,” “It’s What I’m Thinking,” and “This Electric.”

With Badly Drawn Boy, you know what you are getting. Each album has its own minor twist and this one is no different. If you are a fan of Badly Drawn Boy, then this album should be in your collection.
