First Aid Kit Tour Blog: The US Tour Begins in LA…

We really don't know where to start, the first three days of our trip to America have been crazy! Last time we were here was this spring, at SXSW, and that was our first time in this country. We're super excited to finally be here and to be able to explore all these cities that we've heard so much about.

The first day of our tour kicked off in Los Angeles. We stayed on Sunset Boulevard, but we unfortunately we were a bit too tired and busy to get to see much more. We did get to see the Hollywood sign, and that was huge for us.

We did a little session for Shock Hound where we played some songs off our new album "The Big Black & The Blue" and did an interview.  They gave us some Twilight body glitter gel (very exciting), but we forgot to ask for a Justin Beiber t-shirt (very sad).

The show at the Bootleg that night was unreal. We really weren't expecting so many to come down, we were pleasantly surprised. people seemed really positive, singing along to our songs and smiling. There couldn't have been a better way to start off the tour, so thanks to everyone who came.

Directly after that show, there was an 8 hour drive to San Fransicio. The idea was that we would sleep in the car, but that proved more difficult than we thought. It was really sweet waking up to the California sunrise, though. We arrived in San Fran at 9am to do a video session. We went to the piers and recorded it on an old ship. The scenery was beautiful. Of course, we played Sailor Song. We also wrote a letter to Gram Parsons.

When we got to the venue, The Bottom Of The Hill, we decided that we would sing a song together with Samantha Crain who is supporting us on this tour. We are such big fans of her music and we are thrilled to have her with us on the road. We did the "The Dam Song" from her debut album "Songs In The Night" from last year. We barely had any time to practice the song, but it turned out fine.

The show itself was great, we loved the venue. The crowd was excellent too, they didn't seem to notice how sleepy we were at all. We took a photo with them for this blog. Look at how sweet they were!

The day ended with us back at the hotel for a night of sleep in comfy beds. We were very happy! We're looking forward to the rest of the tour and more generous portions of American food.
