FILTER’s Top 10 of 2011: Mayer Hawthorne

Yep, there's no doubt about it : We kinda loved Mayer Hawthorne this year. It's like we really got to know him in 2011, what with the release of his sophomore effort, How Do You Do?, back in October. Oh...yeah. The smooth, soulful singer laid down yet another set of slick throwback beats—and even got Snoop Dogg to sing on a track. The former Stones Throw bro keeps his list accountable here, tossing favorites to The Stepkids and, yeah, even Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane. A bit of a crush, actually.

Mayer Hawthorne's Picks

1. Benny Sings, Art (DOX)

2. Metronomy, The English Riviera (BECAUSE)

3. Little Dragon, Ritual Union (PEACEFROG)

4. Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka, Ferrari Boyz (1017 BRICK SQUAD/BSM/ASYLUMWARNER)

5. Loch Lomond, Little Me Will Start A Storm (TENDER LOVING)

6. The Stepkids, The Stepkids (STONES THROW)

7. Battles, Gloss Drop (WARP)

8. Danny Brown, XXX (FOOL'S GOLD)
