We love 2009 and probably still have our neon plastic New Year’s sunglasses hiding somewhere. Alas, all things, no matter how great, must come to a close. In the little time that we have left in 2009, we’ve been celebrating the year in albums with FILTER’s Top 10 of 2009.
Today, the sassy trio composing the lo-fi Brooklyn outfit Vivian Girls brings us its choice picks of 2009. After a strong debut demo in 2007 that garnered them support from prominent local acts like Jay Reatard and Sonic Youth, and a lineup change in 2008, the Vivian Girls returned better than ever this year with the September release of their second album, Everything Goes Wrong. As a band with modest, homegrown beginnings, it's no surprise that the trio included local lo-fi heros Mika Miko and Wavves in its list.
