FILTER’s Top 10 of 2009: Lightspeed Champion

We love 2009 a lot. We probably posted something awesome on every day of this great year. Probably. But, alas, all things, no matter how great, must come to a close. In the little time that we have left in 2009, we’ve been celebrating the year in albums with FILTER's Top 10 of 2009.

Today, it's your boy Dev Hynes of Lightspeed Champion. A big 2010 is on the way for the former Testicicles member. Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You arrives February 16 via Domino Records and promises an epic collection of 12 pop songs, two instrumental intermissions and one piano étude. Check out Dev's list of the Top 10 things in general that caught his interest in 2009.

Dev of Lightspeed Champion's Top 10 Things of 2009... In No Particular Order

1. Dexter - Slow start to this season, but completely won me over, in true Dexter style. Michael C. Hall is one of the greatest actors of our generation!!!

2. Cryptacize - Band from San Fran, currently living in L.A. The album they put out this year, Mythomania, is soo fucking good. It kills me how good it is. True Love.

3. Tony's Pizza, Brooklyn - I'm lactose intolerant, and these guys do the BEST cheese-less pizzas. Again, True Love.

4. Coconut Water - The hydration is next level, makes me feel like Popeye. One of my favourite discoveries of the last year!!

5. Nicki Minaj - I first heard of her though "Da Drought 3" mixtape couple years back, but almost everything she's put out this year is soo good. I'm actually shocked at quite how good some of her lyrics are, so awesome. Harijuku Barbie!!

6. Spacecamp - Brooklyn band. Tightest players ever in all senses of the term. (I.e colloquial, slang and straight up.)

7. The Room - I must have seen it about a hundred times. My favourite movie ever.

8. Netflix - Systematically ruining/improving my life since June 2009.

9. Cass McCombs - I don't think he's ever written a bad song. Catacombs, his latest record, yet again was extremely awesome.

10. F.R David - '80s pop star and one of my biggest vocal inspirations; released a song called "Taxi" this year, It was big in Russia I do believe...
