FILTER Five: Our Top 5 Reunion Wish-list Tours

Reunion tours and shows might be some of the most hyped news in music that could ever happen. Might be a slight exaggeration, but let's use the unveiling of Coachella 2012's lineup as an example. At The Drive-In, Refused, to name a couple - so many reunions announced right in front of us, all for the luxury of saying they'll most likely be touring around a town near you! Whether it's all the original members or just fragments of the band taking the stage, there's always something special about seeing your favorite bands reunited on stage. In the past few months, there have been some friendly debates about the latest band reunions and which ones should've gotten back together, which ones are the most exciting, and who we REALLY want to see reunite on a stage.
Temporarily putting an end to the debates and chatter, we've rounded up the picks and votes to get some answers. Behold, FILTER's Top 5 Reunion Wish-list Tours and Shows - these are the artists we'd like to see hit the stage for one epic hoorah.
Thinking we've spoken blasphemy? Probably not true, but we're willing to hear you out. Give us your personal "Reunion Wish-list" artists below!
The Smiths
Whether you grew up listening to The Smiths or not, this was still an easy answer. Watching people who hate each other do things for money is a great past-time. Call us old-fashioned.
Talking Heads
Just pour through the endless songs we'd want to hear and see live; not to mention half the reason everyone is so antsy about it is because all signs point to the band probably-definitely being just as good as they left themselves in '91. Just forget abut that whole "we hate each other with a fiery passion." Eh, at least we have 'Stop Making Sense' to watch forever...and ever...and ever...
Genesis
Oddly enough, Genesis 'The Way We Walk Live' was a huge soundtrack to some our staff's summers growing up. Picture this: A few youngens, going about their summer day, completely destroying their house and waiting for mom to come home by 4:30. At around 3:30, Genesis puts up on the stereo and the cleaning ensues. Enough to not get in trouble. Genesis = true summer vacations.
Neutral Milk Hotel
We 'blasted King of Carrot Flowers' on our headphones. Repeat in an eerily quiet library. Now try out 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.' Want to get fancy? Try it on vinyl. Heartfelt and relevant as ever. Simply put, 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea' is one of the greatest records ever written and continues to inspire plenty 14 years after its release. Although, we do support Jeff Mangum's solo shows, there's something about it that just doesn't feel the same. One can only dream of the day he'll get the band back together for a proper performance, right?
The Libertines
This band was chosen with blatant disregard to the fact that they reunited for Reading and Leeds. Reasoning: BECAUSE WE WEREN'T THERE. Dirty Pretty Things were a fine band, and Babyshambles still is, but the raw energy and talent of Carl and Pete together is undeniable, and we want to be a witness to it. This was a real rock band - shameless, flawed, dirty. They made rock with wit and intellect that nobody had touched since The Clash, which is probably why Mick Jones was so quick to work with the band. Give me Up The Bracket as one of the best albums of the early 2000s, no doubt about it.
