FILTER and Slacker Radio Launch FILTER Magazine - Austin 2010 Radio

Slacker and FILTER have launched today FILTER Magazine - Austin 2010, a free radio station offering a wide range of indie tunes selected by editors here at FILTER. The station is now available in the Slacker Spotlight section from Slacker Radio applications, on home entertainment devices and leading smartphones or can be accessed directly from the web at www.Slacker.com/FILTER.

The new station is programmed by FILTER Magazine’s team of editors who are immersed in the indie genre and off-beat entertainment in conjunction with the leading Indie and Alternative music directors at Slacker. The station is being celebrated during FILTER’s South by Southwest ‘Showdown at Cedar Street’ in Austin, beginning on March 18th and includes bands performing at the show such as Miike Snow, BRMC, Dr. Dog and Frightened Rabbit. In addition to the artists performing at the showcase, the station also includes a myriad of acts performing throughout the week in Austin such as Rogue Wave, The Morning Benders, Japandroids and more.

"Slacker provides FILTER Magazine readers and music lovers with an amazing experience that provides free access to hear our favorite artists who are playing our event and appear in the new issue of the magazine," said Alan Miller, Publisher of FILTER Magazine. "We are thrilled to be partnering with Slacker on the station and 'Showdown at Cedar Street' and look forward to exposing music fans to the best new
artists."

FILTER Magazine - Austin 2010 radio can be accessed anywhere Slacker is available, whether listeners are on the web, webOS smartphones, BlackBerry smartphones, iPhone and iPod touch, Android-powered smartphones or a Slacker-enabled Sony TV or Blu-ray player. FILTER fans have instant access to the magazine’s Austin showcase along with artist profiles, album reviews and album cover art providing the ultimate music discovery experience.

“FILTER does an impressive job of consistently bringing the world in-depth background on important music,“ said Jonathan Sasse, senior vice president of marketing at Slacker. “Combining FILTER’s editorial direction with our deep music catalogue and programming expertise enabled us to create a rich personal radio experience befitting of the FILTER mantra, that ‘good music will prevail.’”
