FILTER 5: Our Top 5 Must-Have Vinyl for the Holidays

Yes, it's that time of year again. Queue in numerous Holiday parties that you may or may not go to, that one radio station that drives the anti-Holiday spirits nuts, and the countless reasons to bust out nostalgic elements.

We decided to take a vote amongst the FILTER Staff to see what our Top 5 Must-Have Vinyl for the Holidays would be and after a nice tally, we've got answers! Here's to hoping you too find something great about these.

Vince Guaraldi, A Charlie Brown Christmas

Of course. Bottom line is Guaraldi was jazz piano master, and this LP would be great even if it didn't also happen to soundtrack The Best Christmas Special Ever. Super Nostalgic - and the only classic holiday music that gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling. (Pick up this record on vinyl, Here)

4AD's 2008-2011 Sessions vinyl

Looking forward to listening to that over the holidays!

Portishead, Dummy

Perfect for the Holidays. (Pick up 'Dummy' on vinyl, Here)

The Big Chill Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

When this record was one of the only three records a particular staff member could remember their parents listening to when they were a kid, the connection cannot be denied. Christmas, 4th of July, whenever… always on rotation. Funny thing is some of us might say we've still never seen The Big Chill. (Pick up The Big Chil Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, Here)

Sufjan Stevens,
Songs For Christmas

Suf put this out a couple of Christmases ago, compiled from more than a couple Christmases ago. Supposedly, he does these EPs for friends and family every year, which is how one like "Christmas in the Room" appears out of nowhere and breaks your heart. (Pick up Sufjan Stevens vinyl, Here)
