Elvis Perkins In Dearland to Replace Injured Justin Townes Earle at Newport Folk Festival

Singer/songwriter Justin Townes Earle sliced his hand and needs 19 stitches and thus, he will not be able to play at the Newport Folk Festival. However, as luck would have it, 45 minutes after receiving the news of Townes Earle’s misfortune, Elvis Perkins In Dearland happened to call to request tickets for the festival but instead of attending the festival as fans, the the member of the band will be taking Townes Earle’s place on Sunday, August 1. The Newport Folk Festival will take place from July 30 through August 1 at Fort Adams in Newport, RI, and will feature artists such as Yim Yames, Andrew Bird, Blitzen Trapper and Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros amongst others
