Lord Huron is a Los Angeles-via-Michigan collective led by songwriter Ben Schneider and his childhood friend Mark Barry, who handles percussion. The group's tropical melodies and Americana-influenced narratives translate to warmer, breezy shores miles from the band's namesake—Schneider's hometown escape of Lake Huron, Michigan. Lord Huron released a 7" on Hit City U.S.A. as well as two self-released EPs in 2010, and this video is a live take from the Mighty EP, entitled "When Will I See You Again."
In the Open captured the fivesome during the band's last tour northwards in April on the shores near the Sutro Baths, outside of San Francisco. The director of the video, Alex Shahmiri, elaborates on the conditions:
"The video was filmed in the middle of April near the Sutro Baths in San Francisco on an absolutely perfect day. We traversed down the hillside and across the baths to get down to the beach, but as we tried shooting, the tide kept creeping up. We just kept pushing farther and farther back against the rocks until we found the perfect spot to film. We set everything up as people were walking above us, and as soon as Lord Huron started playing people stopped to watch on the cliffside."
Both the Mighty EP and the Into the Sun EP are available via Lord Huron's Bandcamp and you can listen to the recorded version of "When Will I See You Again" below via Soundcloud.
