To accompany Mark Lanegan's beautiful and slightly haunting cover of John Cale's "I'm Not the Loving Kind" off of his latest album Imitations, FILTER magazine is proud to premiere the Seattle-based singer-songwriter's newest music video.
Directed by our good friend and incredibly talented artist Andrew Van Baal, the video for "I'm Not the Loving Kind" follows a grizzled looking cowboy through his late night journey down Las Vegas' historic Fremont Street. Among the flashing lights and glittery street performers, the video's protagonist stays stoic and unaffected by the "glamour" surrounding him.
It's in this brilliant directing that the video, which really acts more as a gorgeous short film, perfectly mirrors the tone of Lanegan's cover: strong and rough vocals surrounded by the swelling orchestration of the melody.
