German quintet Claire debuted their first EP in September of 2013, and since then they’ve already garnered attention from the likes of Passion Pit and Giorgio Moroder. Their first LP, The Great Escape isn’t out until June 24th (via Astralwerks) but we’ve got the exclusive premiere of their song “You Walk in Beauty,” performed live from the Capitol Records studios.
On “You Walk In Beauty,” the five-piece combine distant, echoing guitars that smack of every song by The xx, with the raspy but powerful vocal stylings of lead singer Josie-Claire Burkle.
With a taste for subtle beats and lush vocals, Claire’s music dances on the thin line between irresistible “neon-pop” for the masses and atmospheric indie trip-hop—throw as many buzzy genre labels at them as you like, but it’s hard to make just one stick. With a sound that combines youthful energy with lyrical maturity, Claire will be a group worth listening to.
