Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar) has been making music for over 30 years and, unlike most who try, he's been able to stay not only relevant, but appreciated throughout these decades. While we aren't career experts or counselors, we'd have to say that Mould has been pretty successful at his! Today Mould has made another contribution to the world of music with the official video for "Star Machine"--the lead song from his tenth and most recent album, Silver Age, which came out late last year through Merge Records.
It’s refreshing to see a new offering that harkens back to the “golden age” of music videos: when they had a brief narrative, perhaps some issue with the band or maybe even original characters all together. All of this, plus a tidy resolution, would all exist within the short span of a three to four minute pop song. “Star Machine” (written and directed by Jon Glaser) is a hilarious reminder of how nice it is when artists don’t take themselves too seriously.
