It seemed, to us, that the Arctic Monkeys were on a perpetual tour--headlining festivals and selling out arenas--since the 2011 release of Suck It and See, but today the Sheffield group proved that they still had a few musical tricks up their sleeve by releasing a new track and official video that you can watch above.
"Do I Wanna Know?" is a four-and-a-half minute dive back into the seductive and heavy world of Alex Turner and co. With a simple, but lasting guitar riff on top of a steady bass drum beat, the track features Turner singing about lust and longing; two lyrical staples in his cannon at this point.
While the song's slowly building beat and crescendo lasts with you long after the track is done, the animated video takes you on a trip that doesn't really do "Do I Wanna Know?" justice. Turner is open and sincere with his conflicted desires to know if his old partner misses him or wants him back (and what he would do if he actually got her back), but the doodles of half-naked women and trippy car races just covers the crazed and confused passion that the song fully projects.
Whether you love the video or hate it, "Do I Wanna Know?" proves that there is new Arctic Monkeys music on the horizon. Stay tuned for more on these Brits and make sure to follow us on Tumblr for more video posts!
