We've all had those days where we attribute one musical artist to the mood or feeling of our day. It seems as if every other day could be a Nick Cave day with the range of emotions in his extensive catalogue of music -- Cave himself even recognized that his decades-spanning catalogue is "vast and terrifying." Fortunately, Nick Cave and Spotify understand that specific conundrum. The solution? A unique, one-of-a-kind artist app that organizes all of Nick Cave's music from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Grinderman and The Birthday Party. It does all the hard work for you and creates a personalized Nick Cave playlist for you!
In the app, there is a "mood wheel" (with an optional second one). Of course, the moods on the wheel aren't ordinary moods like sad or happy; instead, Nick Cave himself chose overarching themes from his music that act like moods, such as Sex, Murder and Mayhem, Super Dark, Spiritual, and more. He also carefully categorized all of his songs into each of his moods. The newbies get a guided tour of Cave's history while die-hard fans gain a new appreciation for Cave's career.
Not only does the app create a playlist for you, but you can also browse playlist created by some famous Nick Cave fans. Currently, the app features playlists curated by Lou Reed, Dave Gahan, Jarvis Cocker, and Mary Anne Hobbs. In the future, you can expect playlists from Cate Blanchett, Shirley Manson, and Devendra Banhardt. You can contribute to the conversation by creating and saving your own "Nick Cave Inspired" playlist!
The app is completely original and unique in addition to being frighteningly accurate. Try out the app for yourself here and prepare to be amazed by the app and Nick Cave's voice.
