Since the release of Conatus back in 2011, Zola Jesus has been touring around the world to promote it. Now she shares a new track, "Avalanche (Slow)." The song will appear on her string arrangement album, Versions, which is due out August 20 via Sacred Bones Records.
The track has a soft, sad melody that skillfully harmonizes the sounds of the string quartet with Nika Roze Danilova's voice. The strings take the forefront while she adds a further sense of beautiful melancholy in her singing. Her voice remains steady as the strings build around her, until the end when she takes forefront with a beautiful high note and then the lingering sounds of the quartet take the background.
"Avalance (Slow)" is part of Danilova's album Versions, which is made up of her classics that have been composed for a quartet. The arrangements were done by JG Thirlwell who transformed her songs into a symphonic beauty.
You can listen to the new track below and be sure to pick up Versions when it comes out!
