Ten years ago the world fell in love with The Postal Service only to have them disappear into the mist of the 00’s. Looking back, Give Up (the band’s only release), started to feel like a one off project that we felt lucky enough to get to experience oh so long ago.
Fast forward to ten years later and the duo has re-emerged, shows have been announced, a re-release of the lauded Give Up set plus a load of extras, and this… A new song, titled “A Tattered Line Of String.”
There are certainly many similarities between “A Tattered Line Of String” and Give Up, they are the same minds at work, but it’s nice to see that they are trying to expand on their sound rather than just recreate their past succes, (which they could easily have gotten away with).
The Give Up re-release will be out on Sub Pop April 9th. The release will include every song the band has “officially” recorded, including “A Tattered Line Of String” as well as another new release “Turn Around”. The band also has a few shows lined up including some shows in the UK, Coachella festival, and headlining the Sasquatch Music festival.
