Mike Tyson, unlikely fan of The Black Keys, dangled a cryptic clue about the band’s latest single, “Fever,” via Twitter this weekend and today they’ve released the new track to the public, along with a release date for their eighth studio album, Turn Blue.
Random celebrity endorsements aside, the track is a bass-heavy thumper, leaning more to the psychedelic side than their bluesy rock roots. The keyboard riff adds another layer to the normally bare-bones, guitar-and-drums combo that we’re used to--it is (to use a totally passé term) groovy. "Fever" is a refreshing change from the Dan Auerbach-Patrick Carney duo, who worked with producer Danger Mouse for the record, whose finishing touches and guiding hand are already apparent on the title track.
Turn Blue will be released on May 13th via Nonesuch records and you can download “Fever” instantly when you pre-order the new album.
