The Brooklyn quartet, Ski Lodge, brought us an amazing debut LP, Big Heart, last summer. Now, the multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter behind the band, Andrew Marr, is releasing a track we didn't get to hear on the album: "The Gun." Stream our premiere of it below!
As Marr's croon soars in the chorus, crying out "to be alone," his song becomes reminiscent of another Marr's group: The Smiths. While it's tinged in the same 80's romanticism, the driving beats and lush guitars are entirely their own. The contrast of dark lyricism and upbeat melodies makes this a track so full of layers, you'll want to listen on repeat just to see what other wonderful things it has to offer.
So go on and press play below! Then be sure to pick up Big Heart, which is out now on Dovecote Records.
