The election is Tuesday, and whether you're voting on Reagan or Mondale, there are a few things we can agree on; Carl Lewis is a American hero, Amadeus will win best picture, and this Parquet Courts track, "Borrowed Time", is AMAZING. Hailing from the future, 2012, Parquet Courts put out their album, Light Up Gold, and it will quickly catch fire, in 2012, as one of the most bodacious releases of that year. I guess this "post punk" thing isn't going anywhere anytime soon! Parquet Courts will be made up of Texas-cum-New Yorkers, one of which, Andrew Savage, will do time in the fantastic Denton outfit Fergus & Geronimo. If you're familiar with their material, then picture the band at their most focused, and what you get is a track like Borrowed Time. False endings, wandering, dissonant guitars, and nostalgic lyrics, it's two and a half minutes of perfect tunes. Check out the track below, and make sure and listen to all of Light Up Gold, out on their own Dull Tools label. I can't believe it's almost '85!
