LISTEN: Early Listen Of Fences & Mansions Split 7”, Band On Band Q&A (FILTER Exclusive)

After becoming fast friends over their similar "bummer songwriting" styles, Fences (aka Christopher Mansfield) and Mansions (aka Christopher Browder) decided to team up for a limited edition split 7" and we have the premiere of that split, below.

Recorded in Seattle (which is where both bands now live), by Fences' guitarist Jonny Warman, the new 7" features new songs by both artists and will be available at select retail shops in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Louisville as well as on the artist's websites and on iTunes.

The two groups will also be hitting the road together for a stint of dates to support the release including a stop at Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party and Chicago's massive Lollapalooza.

Check out the 7" stream with featuring Mansions' "On My Way" and Fences' "Market Place"

We also gave Mansions and Fences the option of doing a Q&A with each other, the results are...interesting. Check those out below.

Christopher Mansfield (Fences) to  Christopher Browder (Mansions):

What is your favorite holiday and why?
Christmas, mainly because it has the most cookies associated with it.

River Phoenix or Miranda July?
Jerry O’ Connell

High or low top Dr. Martens?

Let the socks lead and the shoes follow

What is your dream tour?  You and…?

Ryan Adams, Mansions, Blue Album-era Weezer, and the half zombie Beatles

Do you experience stage fright/have you heard the Fright Night soundtrack?
Not really, but the less people in the crowd, the more stage fright, weirdly.  I probably get more stage fright in everyday life than I do before going on stage.  The Fright Night OST is pretty good, but their old stuff is better.

Christopher Browder (Mansions) to  Christopher Mansfield (Fences):

How do you take your coffee?
Espresso with soy milk.

What's your favorite show you've ever played and why?
Any of the basement shows with my friends in Boston. Long before grumpy promoters and aggro door people.

Did she really slap your face down at the marketplace?  What the hell did you do?
“She” was alcohol withdrawal. The "slap" was sweat and panic.

Rock of Love or Flavor of Love?
River Phoenix

What's your favorite album from the early 2000s and why?
Matthew Garrison "Matthew Garrison", for its bravery.
