You Should Already Know: Howe Gelb

THE HIGH POINT OF OUR CAREER

I am quite certain it hasn’t happened yet.

THE LOW POINT OF OUR CAREER

I am quite certain it hasn’t happened yet.

THE FUNNIEST THING A JOURNALIST EVER WROTE ABOUT US

OK, I really don’t understand where this is going.

WHEN THE JOURNALISTS GOT IT RIGHT

Most journalists are underpaid, under-instructed, well-intended plebes of journalism and should never be expected to get anything right. They need our assistance and we are here to help. They can rest easy. We are here for them.

BEST SHOW EVER

So this is where you get the most accurate information of how our brains work. Beauty, like pornography, is in the eye of the beholder, so here we can reveal what we think is art and then you can determine if it is merely perverse self-indulgence. My best show was number 18,782.

WORST SHOW EVER

I would have to say my worst was probably number 3.

WHEN WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO MAKE IT AS A BAND

OK, I am not really sure what this is referring to… Do you mean when we first knew we were going to make it a band? Probably just after we did.

THE BEST SONG WE EVER WROTE

“An Extended Plane of Existence” because it has over 18 chords in it and 22 changes.

HOW WE’RE MOST LIKELY TO BE REMEMBERED

This is a very diabolical, almost maniacal trick question.

HOW WE’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED

Sonic explorations and stumbling upon a cure—much like the way penicillin came into our lives.

Howe Gelb picks 3 of his records you should already own

'Sno Angel Like You
(2007)

Because Mojo gave it 5 stars and that never happens.

Alegrias
(2010)

Because it has the absolute best guitarists in the world on it.

 The Coincidentalist
(2013)

Because it’s now and it might be a cure.
