OUR BAND'S SPIRIT ANIMAL
The East Coast mountain lion.
IDEAL SITUATION FOR SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO OUR MUSIC
A cool May evening, all the doors and windows open, NBA Finals on mute in another room. Post-cookout, pre-blown-out house party.
WORST SHOW EVER
We were late to a Record Store Day show at Barrack Street in London. I broke three strings on the first song, then they got tangled around the mic stand so I couldn’t move, it was so cold our instruments wouldn’t stay in tune, my piano player’s piano was broken and Russell Crowe was watching.
ON THE ROAD
Last year, we had to drive from Seattle to Richmond at the end of the December tour. The whole country was covered in blizzards. I almost died, stole fried chicken from Walmart and put on tire chains for the first time in a frozen parking lot in St. Joseph, Missouri.
LEAST FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD
Losing, confrontation, running late, and sour cream and onion chips.
WE'LL KNOW WE'VE MADE IT WHEN...
I can have band practice during the day.
